The Clinical Governance in Community Health Project aims to provide leadership and support for the development of Model Clinical Governance Policies and Systems for Community Health across Victoria.
Background
While the community health sector is a relatively low risk environment, the future direction of community health in chronic disease, ambulatory care and programs that span the acute primary interface mean that the risk profile of the sector is changing. There is a need to establish a clinical governance systems and processes in community health to further the strategic development of the sector and to ensure high quality services to clients. The Victorian Healthcare Association responded to this need by creating an activity stream that is driving the Clinical Governance agenda.
The Clinical Governance in Community Health Steering Committee was formed, following a sector workshop, to provide leadership and support for the development of a Clinical Governance systems for Victorian Community Health Services. The objectives of the Steering Committee are to:
- Develop relevant Model Clinical Governance Policies, Guidelines and accompanying tools applicable for Community Health agencies across Victoria;
- Support sector wide education strategies around Clinical Governance;
- Support the sector in promoting current and future work undertaken by Community Health Services around Clinical Governance.
- Provide an advocacy role to share resources and networking across the sector and with relevant external stakeholders
