VHA Team

Deborah Sequeira

Business Services Coordinator

Role description

As Business Services Coordinator, I provide essential support to VHA staff and play a key role in ensuring the organisation’s administrative operations run smoothly providing a seamless and professional experience for the VHA’s members.

What is your career background and what brought you to the VHA?

I have a wealth of experience in secretariat/administrator/EA roles across a number of industries including health, engineering, and manufacturing.

Prior to joining the VHA, I worked with one of the largest specialist medical colleges where I was responsible for providing training, assessing, and setting standards for all specialist anaesthetists and pain medicine physicians wishing to practice in Australia and New Zealand. This administrative role provided me with exposure of working across board, committee, and faculty levels. After six years with that organisation, due to personal reasons, I decided to take a short break from the workforce.

I was drawn to the role at the VHA in January 2020 because it offered me the opportunity to continue my career within the health space. It also gave me the opportunity to work with an organisation that focuses on health and wellbeing for the community. I am impressed by, and glad to be part of, the VHA’s commitment to creating value for members (and all Victorians), especially considering the range of challenges which members face.

What are your hobbies or creative outlets outside of work?

Outside of work, I pour my energy into volunteering as Secretary on a committee for an Anglo-Indian community association. I love bringing people together and play an active role in organising member events, which includes day/weekend trips, sightseeing and various other activities that celebrate culture and connection. Creating memorable experiences for the community is one of my favourite ways to spend my time.
