Role description
As Learning & Development Coordinator at the VHA, I’m responsible for building leadership and development offerings that build the capability of the Victorian public healthcare sector.
What is your career background and what brought you to the VHA?
With a 20-year background in the not-for-profit sector, I’m drawn to organisations that make a difference. My love of public health led me to gain Master of Public Health with an initial focus on preventative upstream public health programming.
After several years leading public health teams, projects and programs, I was drawn to the VHA by a belief in the power of leadership development to create cultures of learning, safety and innovation in healthcare. My work supports healthcare leaders to grow, connect and navigate complex challenges across the sector.
What is your favourite quote?
One of my favourite quotes is by Richard Rohr, ‘We do not think ourselves into new ways of living, we live ourselves into new ways of thinking.’ It reminds us that our complex, embodied and sometimes ineffable nature means that experiential learning, not just the consumption and comprehension of theory, can provides a path to powerful transformation.
