Tuesday 30, Jan 2024

The VHA is delighted to welcome two Board appointed Directors to the Board of the Victorian Healthcare Association.

They are Brendon Gardner (CEO, Royal Eye & Ear Hospital) and Libby Fifis (CEO, Northeast Health Wangaratta). Libby will be filling the position of Regional Health Service CEO representative, while Brendon is a Board appointed non-representative Director.

Brendon Gardner

Brendon Gardner first joined the Victorian Public Health care system in 1990 as a Health Information Manager and over the following 34 years, has held a variety of roles with responsibility for both clinical and non-clinical services across the health system spectrum.  Brendon has been involved in various State based committees and working groups, ranging from the selection of state based clinical and patient systems, through to casemix and clinical process review. He also has experience as an Assessor for the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.

Brendon is currently the CEO of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and was recently appointed Chair of the World Association of Eye Hospitals.  He has a keen interest in governance and is consistently looking for ways to contribute to health care.

Libby Fifis

Libby is an experienced and well-respected Senior Health Executive who has held a wide variety of executive roles across regional and metropolitan Victoria in public, private and not-for-profit sectors.  With a nursing background, Libby previously held the position of Executive Director Clinical Services at Northeast Health Wangaratta (2016-2018) before taking on the role of CEO at Stawell Regional Health.  More recently, she led the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee team as its General Manager and Director of Clinical Services.

Libby is currently the CEO of Northeast Health Wangaratta.

We look forward to the valuable contribution both directors will make to the strategic direction of the VHA.
