Informed by consultation with our members and focused on a system-level response, the VHA’s Inquiry into Women’s Pain submission addresses the challenges faced by girls and women seeking pain care in Victoria. The submission looks at pain and the treatment of pain through a gendered lens, the barriers of pain care provision for women in Victoria, innovative and person-centred solutions drawing on case studies from member organisations, and opportunities to address the current challenges.
Overwhelmingly, the VHA and its membership advocate for a systemic response to the identification, treatment and management of women’s pain. This includes the provision of care within a holistic, coordinated and integrated model, with adequate funding to ensure timely access and achievement of optimal patient outcomes.
