All Victorians want high-quality and personalised healthcare, delivered by a strong healthcare system. In addition to excellence in the provision of clinical care, the provision of high quality and safe care is dependent on the effective management and leadership of our health service organisations and workforce. New health sector leaders may have previous leadership knowledge and experience, but all will require investment and support in their further development to hone these abilities.
The VHA is focused on empowering our members, and the broader sector, supporting learning and development of new and emerging health service leaders, in all stages of their careers. In future, our professional development offerings will be underpinned by the ‘VHA Leadership Capability Framework’.
This framework will:
Provide a clear, consistent and united view of the most important capability needs of our members
Underpin the design and tailoring of learning and development opportunities specific to our member’s needs
Support our members to easily access timely, relevant and cost-effective learning and development opportunities
Development of the Framework will not be done in isolation of best practice currently occurring nationally and internationally, rather this is an opportunity to build on existing resources to deliver a Framework that is tailored to the context and collective needs of the Victorian public healthcare sector.
Work is underway and consultation will begin in early 2025.
