Submission: Productivity Commission - Delivering Quality Care More Efficiently

Tuesday 16, Sep 2025

The VHA is pleased to provide a response the Productivity Commission’s interim report 'Delivering quality care more efficiently'. The report has been published as part of the Commonwealth Government’s productivity growth agenda, which aims to ensure a more sustainable and productive care and support economy into the future.

The VHA welcomes the Productivity Commission's focus on achieving regulatory efficiencies and strengthening collaborative arrangements across existing parts of the care economy, including in preventative healthcare. The VHA offers perspectives on the value this would deliver across Victoria's publicly funded healthcare services – including for aged care, NDIS, primary and community health – and highlights opportunities to leverage system strengths to realise the Productivity Commission's recommendations.

The VHA’s recommendations focused on minimising fragmentation across the regulatory system and ensuring adequate resourcing is delivered to preventative healthcare services that can alleviate pressure and inefficiencies across other parts of the health and care economy.
