Health LEADS Victoria

The VHA is developing Health LEADS Victoria, a sector-wide leadership capability framework that defines the attributes and capabilities needed for effective leadership within a public healthcare organisation at all levels.

Health LEADS Victoria will be an adaptation from the existing international best-practice framework, LEADS in a Caring Environment, that is in widespread application across the globe.

It will define and describe what ‘good’ leadership looks like and provide a common language for leadership expectations, development, and performance management.

How will Health LEADS Victoria be implemented?

The VHA will:

Establish the Victorian Health Leadership Network (VHLNet) - a sector-wide leadership network to support implementation across the Victorian public healthcare sector.
Establish a Steering Committee to guide VHLNet activities comprising organisational development, people and culture, leadership development experts and executive leaders from across Victorian health services. Find out more here.
Deliver a series of Community of Practice sessions for Framework implementers.
Develop a digital resource hub to provide VHA members centralised access to resources and tools.
Partner with education providers to align leadership development training to Health LEADS Victoria.
Provide coaching and implementation support services.
Embed evaluation, impact reporting and continuous improvement.

How is Health LEADS Victoria being developed?

Health LEADS Victoria has been developed through a collaborative and evidence-informed process.

Together, these insights have informed a leadership capability framework that integrates global evidence with the unique context and needs of Victoria’s public healthcare system.
